February 2014 – Lunch & Learn

Our February Lunch & Learn featured Hetal Doshi, Esq., senior associate at Faegre Baker Daniels, LLP who spoke on discovery challenges associated with Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) matters.  Topics covered included negotiating discovery, dealing with whistleblowers and hostile custodians, “raids” to obtain ESI overseas (primarily China), foreign language reviews and challenges with interpretation and search term translation.  THANK YOU Hunter + Geist for sponsoring this educational event for COALSP members!

March 2014 – Lunch & Learn

COALSP’s March Lunch & Learn was held at Brownstein, Hyatt, Farber, Schreck LLP and featured a panel of litigation support professionals from the Denver area providing an interesting recap of LegalTech 2014 highlights.  Association colleagues Deanna Blomquist, Michael Boggs, Catherine McPherson, Colin Pitet, and Cory Reynolds shared thoughts and comments on the 2014 LegalTech New York conference.  Hot topics at this year’s conference were Predictive Coding, Information Governance, using metricts to measure value, and approaching the delivery of legal services as a business.  Feel free to reach out to any of these colleagues to hear more about the conference.  THANK YOU COALSP for sponsoring this event for association members!

May 2014 – Lunch & Learn

COALSP’s May Lunch & Learn was held at the office of The University of Colorado, Office of University Counsel. Members participated in an interactive discussion of litigation support “Toolkit” applications that assist litigation support professionals complete every day tasks easier, faster, and better. Some of the applications to be discussed are referenced in the Litigation Support Guru blog series “Tools of the Trade”. June 2014 – Open Membership Lunch

October 2014 – 8th Annual eDiscovery Summit

COALSP was pleased to host its 8th Annual eDiscovery Summit at the Embassy Suites Denver Convention Center in Denver, Colorado.  Speakers presented on the following topics: ESI preservation obligations and spoliation sanctions and how the new proposed federal rules of Civil Procedure will impact those challenges in litigation; ediscovery caselaw review; data governance and data management at the far left side of the EDRM; recoverable discovery fees in the age of technology; methods for handling small data sets in discovery.
